TERRA Consortium Meets in Ferrara for the 7th Project Board Meeting

On 29–30 June 2026, the TERRA consortium gathered in Ferrara, Italy, for the project’s 7th Project Board Meeting, hosted by MEEO S.r.l. The two-day meeting brought together project partners to review technical progress, strengthen collaboration, and define the next steps towards delivering advanced Earth Observation-based climate services.

The meeting commenced with updates on project coordination and comprehensive reviews of the ongoing work across all technical work packages. Partners discussed the latest developments in the TERRA platform architecture, intelligent data processing, platform integration, and validation activities, ensuring continued alignment between technical developments and the project’s overall objectives.

A key focus of the meeting was the progress of TERRA’s three demonstrators, which are applying Earth Observation data, Artificial Intelligence, and advanced geospatial analytics to address real-world environmental challenges. Partners presented recent achievements and planned activities for:

• Demonstrator 1: Assessment of water contamination in coastal areas and throughout the water cycle.
• Demonstrator 2: Detection of illegal human activities in harbour areas by leveraging Copernicus services.
• Demonstrator 3: Development of a Digital Twin for monitoring coastal change using satellite Earth Observation.

In addition to the technical sessions, the consortium reviewed communication, dissemination, exploitation, and impact creation activities, highlighting recent achievements while planning future actions to maximise the project’s visibility, stakeholder engagement, and long-term impact.

The meeting concluded with interactive discussions on user engagement, advanced analytics, and the roadmap for the coming months, reinforcing the consortium’s shared commitment to delivering innovative, reliable, and user-oriented climate services.

Beyond the productive discussions, partners also had the opportunity to experience the unique atmosphere of Ferrara, a UNESCO World Heritage city renowned for its Renaissance architecture and rich cultural heritage. The social programme provided an excellent setting for informal networking and further strengthening collaboration among consortium members.
