TERRA Holds its 5th Project Board Meeting in Athens
Date: 29 January 2026
Location: Athens, Greece
On 29 January 2026, the TERRA consortium successfully held its 5th Project Board (PB) Meeting in Athens, bringing together project partners for a full day of technical updates, coordination discussions, and strategic planning.
The meeting took place at the Ilisia Hotel and was organised by CITE – Communication & Information Technologies Experts S.A, whom the consortium warmly thanks for the excellent organisation and hosting.
Progress Across Work Packages
The agenda covered progress across all TERRA work packages, starting with updates on project coordination and governance, followed by detailed presentations on requirements, system specifications, and overall platform architecture. Partners then presented advancements in platform development, integration, validation, and infrastructure, highlighting the steady progress toward a unified and interoperable TERRA platform.
Outreach, exploitation, and impact-creation activities were also discussed, with a focus on strengthening stakeholder engagement and ensuring that project results reach both technical and non-technical audiences.
Focus on TERRA Demonstrators and Pilots
A key highlight of the meeting was the dedicated focus on the three TERRA pilots, which address critical challenges related to water and coastal environments. Partners presented and reviewed early mock-ups and visual concepts of the solutions, enabling constructive feedback and alignment on user requirements, functionalities, and next development steps.
The demonstrators presented included:
- Assessment of water contamination in coastal areas and across the water cycle
- Detection of illegal human activity in harbour areas using Copernicus services
- A Digital Twin for monitoring coastal change based on satellite remote sensing
These sessions helped ensure a shared understanding of how the TERRA solutions will evolve toward real-world deployment and operational use.
The meeting concluded with parallel sessions on user interaction and advanced analytics, followed by an open discussion summarising key outcomes and defining priorities for the next project period.
With strong collaboration across the consortium and clear alignment on technical and strategic objectives, the TERRA project continues to move forward in delivering innovative climate services and data-driven tools for coastal and water management.
